💭 Feel Like Your Eyes Need a Holiday?

🧘♀️ Welcome to This Week’s One Minute Reset
💭 Feel Like Your Eyes Need a Holiday?
🌴 Try these 5 micro-breaks that feel like a spa day for your sight
Let’s be real: screens are everywhere. We use them to work, relax, connect, and scroll ourselves into a trance.
But while we’re dialled in and hyper-focused, our eyes are silently screaming for a break.
Sound familiar?
-
Your vision starts to blur.
-
You find yourself squinting or rubbing your eyes.
-
Headaches creep in after hours of back-to-back meetings.
-
And by the end of the day, your energy’s zapped—not just mentally, but physically.
This week, we’re focusing on eye relaxation—a simple practice that takes just one minute but can refresh your focus and protect your long-term eye health.
👀 Why Eye Relaxation Matters
Digital eye strain (aka Computer Vision Syndrome) affects up to 90% of people who spend more than 3 hours a day on screens. Chances are—you’re in that camp.
But here’s the good news:
Taking micro-breaks throughout your day doesn’t just help your eyes—it helps your mind and mood too.
When your eyes relax, your nervous system slows down, your breathing becomes more regulated, and your ability to concentrate and think clearly improves.
A win-win for your body and your to-do list.
🔄 Your One Minute Eye Reset:
Try this right now. Seriously—just one minute can change the way your whole body feels.
Step-by-step:
-
1. Close your eyes and gently cup your palms over them
👐 Make sure your fingers rest lightly on your forehead and cheeks. Don't apply pressure—just create a soft, dark space. -
2. Take 3 deep, slow breaths
💨 Inhale through your nose for 4 seconds. Hold. Exhale slowly through your mouth for 6–8 seconds. Let your body begin to soften. -
3. Visualise complete darkness
🖤 Imagine a soft, warm black space. Let your eyes rest in that darkness. You might even “see” colours or shapes—just observe them and let them fade. -
4. Stay like this for 30–60 seconds
⏳ Long enough to give your optic nerves and mind a short but effective reset. Feel the tension melting. -
5. Gently open your eyes and blink slowly
👁️ Let light in gradually. Don’t rush back into your screen. Give your eyes a moment to adjust and feel the calm.
💡 Want to go further? Try these bonus micro-breaks:
-
The 20-20-20 Rule: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. It helps refocus your eye muscles.
-
Blink Breaks: We blink less when staring at screens—set reminders to blink slowly and deeply every few minutes to reduce dryness.
-
Eye Rolling (the good kind): Gently roll your eyes in a circular motion—clockwise, then counter-clockwise. This helps lubricate your eyes and reduce stiffness.
🧘♂️ The Bigger Picture
Relaxing your eyes isn’t just about preventing discomfort. It’s a powerful mindfulness tool that anchors you in the present moment.
It tells your brain, “Hey, we’re safe. We can slow down.”
That’s what the One Minute Reset is all about—giving yourself permission to pause, reset, and come back clearer than before.
✅ Try this today. Set a timer. Add it to your break routine.
✨ Your eyes—and your nervous system—will thank you.
Until next time,
Stay mindful. Stay present.
